Admission Criteria

PTU B.Tech admission (1st year) requires passing 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, plus one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.

A minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) is required in these subjects. Admissions are mainly through JEE Main scores via centralized counseling, with 85% seats reserved for Punjab residents.

PTU B.Tech Admission Highlights

• Eligibility: 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject (Chemistry, Biotech, Biology, Computer Science, etc.).
• Minimum Marks: 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST and reserved categories) in the qualifying exam.
• Selection Process:
  • Phase 1: Based on JEE Main merit.
  • Phase 2 (Vacant Seats): Based on 10+2 marks if seats remain vacant after JEE Main counseling.
• Lateral Entry (B.Tech 2nd Year): A 3-year diploma in any branch of engineering/technology from a recognized board, or B.Sc. degree with 45% marks (40% for reserved) is required.
• Counseling: Conducted online by IKGPTU Jalandhar, covering registration, choice filling, and seat allotment.
• Reservations: 85% seats are reserved for Punjab candidates, 15% for other states.
