Civil engineering is a broad field containing many engineering sub-fields, such as structure designing, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, geo-technical engineering, and construction engineering. Civil engineers design and supervise the construction of buildings, highways, railways, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, as well as fluid transport systems.
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2011 with an intake of 60 students. The objective of the department is to impart high quality education to the undergraduates, enabling them to succeed in positions in civil engineering profession.
Our vision is to become a Centre of excellence in providing the technical education & research in the emerging area of Civil Engineering. To establish an outstanding centre of regional and national reputation for providing a quality engineering education to the students from the rural area of Punjab, excellent research and services to the professional and the community; to produce quality civil engineers.

The department offers core courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Humanities/Management, Communication skills and Ethics and self - awareness are offered as core courses to B.Tech. first year students. In addition to the one compulsory common course in Mathematics for B.Tech. first year students, additional knowledge such as Numerical Analysis, Vector Calculus, Fourier series & Laplace transforms, Probability & Statistics and Partial Differential Equations & Special Functions are offered to selected branches of undergraduate engineering according to the prescribed curriculum.
The department has well equipped laboratories to impart practical training to the students in the field of Physics, Chemistry. A Computing lab has also been set up recently in the Department, which is also equipped with facilities (English edge software) enabling it to be used as a language lab. The purpose of the language lab is to brush-up the communication skills of students for transforming their personality.
